Administrative Note

There have been a few minor administrative changes to the site.

The requirement for users to register and log in before being able to post comments will remain. Remember, I moderate the first comment a user leaves in order to fight spam, but second and subsequent comments get greenlighted without approval. The register and log in links can also be found at the top right corner of the main site in a sidebar box labeled “Meta.” The process has been improved, however.

New members can now pick their password when registering, rather than having to accept a machine-generated password. The first login will take you to a small profile page where you can tell me a little about yourself.

Existing members can change their machine-generated password at any time. A logged-in member can do this through the Site Admin link of the “Meta” section at the top right corner of the main site. If you don’t go straight to the “Profile” page, click on the “Profile” tab on the top left to get there. Scroll down on the profile page to see the password options, and feel free to fill in any profile items that you wish.

If you are an existing user and have lost your password, you can always get a new machine-generated password, and then log in to change it to something that you can remember more easily.

There will be some other upgrades over the weekend, but they should be transparent to all users.
