I intend for this site to be a distillation of its predecessors, with a focus on specific trading ideas for stocks and ETFs/ETNs that trade on U.S. exchanges and can be bought easily through a standard U.S. brokerage account.
The earlier sites tracked a great deal of experimentation, starting with a pure focus on value investing, but drifting into active trading ideas, short selling, system designs, and exploration of options and futures trading. Additionally, there was, and still is, on the continuing sites, a great deal of ancillary content: political discussions, “blogging about blogging,” critiques of mainstream media and common beliefs in the trading community, and quite a lot of my often sarcastic sense of humor. On this site, I will try to rein that in, and keep to specific, actionable trading ideas that I am either executing, or testing for possible future execution, and detailed market timing commentary.
My personal trades will be tracked here, with equity weights and timing, and I will attempt to announce all trades before the orders are placed - usually the night before, but sometimes the morning of. In the event that trades must be taken, but cannot be announced due to site difficulties, or any other reason, I will announce the trade as soon as practicable after the trade is taken. The trading styles I use are not ones that transact intraday, unless stop or limit orders are used, and the holding times are intended to be weeks or months. My personal, unaudited trading results will be presented on a regular basis. In this manner, readers can follow along, and can verify going-forward results for themselves based on the site history.
System trades will be tracked according to the system used, and if I am not personally taking trades on the system, but merely watching it for forward-testing, that will be made clear in the associated posts. Testing results and backtested results will be clearly marked as such.
